That’s when you have to remember that image in the mirror and not let success get to you. It is important that you not believe your own publicity. Be grateful for whatever praise you receive, but take it with a grain of salt” If You Ask Me (And of Course You Won’t) by: Betty White
Initial thoughts: Who doesn’t love Betty White? Honestly, whenever I see her appear in a movie or television series, I find myself grinning from ear to ear. For decades she has been sharing her acting talents with the world. Even now, at her age, she is still going strong. I ended up listening to the audiobook version of Betty White’s autobiography If You Ask Me (And of Course You Won’t).

The Review
This book was an absolute delight to read. I adored every minute of it. Unlike most celebrities who have an ego higher than the Empire State Building, Betty White is a down-to-earth lovable woman who I wish could be immortal. Wouldn’t this be awesome to have an immortal Betty White to grace the silver screen forever and ever and ever….
In all seriousness, this book made me smile. I ended up listening to the audiobook version narrated by Betty White herself. The hours quickly slipped away and made my work day feel a lot shorter. Thanks Betty! If there is one thing about Betty White, it is that she doesn’t seem to be aware of how amazing of a celebrity she is. Instead, she remains completely humble. It is evident in her writing that she feels that she has a lot to be thankful for, and she will often thank those closest to her in her book. It made me realize that she sees herself as an ordinary person who had enough luck to take part in many movie and television roles.
One thing that came as a surprise when listening to the audiobook was Betty’s love of animals. Truth be told, I did not know much of Betty White’s personal life and interests. Her love of animals appears to be a subject that is near and dear to her heart. I enjoyed listening to her animal anecdotes, such as meeting Koko (the gorilla who can use sign language to communicate). Not only was this story fascinating, it was extremely funny. I nearly laughed out loud at my cubicle.
Betty White also offers words of wisdom for up-and-coming celebrities, and to anyone who wants to know the secret to her longevity.
It’s [old age] not a surprise, we knew it was coming – make the most of it. So you may not be as fast on your feet, and the image in your mirror may be a little disappointing, but if you are still functioning and not in pain, gratitude should be the name of the game” If You Ask Me (And of Course You Won’t) by: Betty White
I realized that I want to be able to have her outlook on life when I will be her age.
I would recommend this book to fans of Betty White, and those who are looking for a little light humor to brighten up their day.
